Case of the month February 2019

Written by Greater Pittsburgh Vascular Associates staff member Eric Kisic.

This 52 year old male patient has been suffering from high blood pressure that has not responded to medications. Uncontrolled high blood pressure over time can do irreversible damage to the heart and vascular system, including increased risk of strokes. As we know peripheral artery disease can happen anywhere in the vascular system. The patient was scheduled for a renal (kidney) angiogram and was found to have a blockage in the artery to his right kidney. A stent was placed in the artery and flow was dramatically improved. At a one month follow up visit the patients blood pressure was significantly lower and his number of medications for his blood pressure was reduced. Images below show before and after stent placement. If you feel you have problems with your heart please don’t hesitate to contact us for a check up. At Greater Pittsburgh Vascular Associates we care about your vascular health.
